| dc.description.abstract | Aunque por lo común la crítica arltiana atribuye a sus novelas una fuerte carga autobiográfica, los lectores de las Aguafuertes porteñas encuentran en esas notas periodístico-literarias una versión más cotidiana del hombre Roberto Arlt. La frescura espontánea de esta imagen del escritor emana directamente de la fórmula enunciativa que rige la escritura de las Aguafuertes: el Yo, Roberto Arlt. La correspondencia entre una instancia discursiva (narrador) y otra real (autor), convierte al escritor en personaje. La cuestión es intentar determinar si esa imagen del escritor, urdida discursivamente, corresponde a una intención autobiográfica, o si es una versión que se ajusta a los requerimientos retóricos propios del género. Sabemos que el Roberto Arlt narrador es un caminante infatigable; lo que no podemos saber es si el Roberto Arlt autor emprendió realmente tales caminatas o se limitó a imaginarlas y declararlas, en beneficio de su discurso. No podemos asegurar que ambas instancias coincidan puntualmente, y en todo caso no nos debiera importar más que por esto: si leemos las Aguafuertes fiándonos de la absoluta correspondencia entre autor y narrador, quizá el género de las crónicas se nos vuelva periodístico; si creemos que el narrador es un mero personaje en las manos de su homónimo autor, la lectura será literaria. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Although Arlt’s critics usually remark a heavy auto-biographical load in his novels, readers may find in Aguafuertes Porteñas an “everyday” version of Roberto Arlt as a man. The freshness and spontaneity of this image of the writer emanates directly from the enunciation key which governs the Aguafuertes’ writing: I, Roberto Arlt. This correspondence between a discursive instance (narrator) and an actual one (author) turns the writer into a character. The question is to try to find out if that image of the writer, discursively warped, responds to an auto-biographical intention, or to certain rhetorical and style requirements. We read that Roberto Arlt the narrator is an untiring pedestrian; but we are not able to find out if Roberto Arlt the author actually took those walks, or he just imagined and declared them, for the benefit of his speech. We cannot state both instances to match perfectly; either way, we should not care about that, if not for this single reason: if we read the Aguafuertes trusting in an absolute narrator-author correspondence, then we may be reading a press article; on the other hand, if we even suspect the narrator to be only a character created by his author, then we may be reading a fiction piece. | en_US |
