| dc.description.abstract | Rafael Barrett nace en 1876 en Torrelavega, España. Con 27 años llega a Buenos Aires, en donde desarrolla una efímera, pero fecunda actividad periodística y entra en contacto con la cruda realidad latinoamericana. Sin embargo el destino lo lleva a Paraguay, país que lo enamora. Identificado con el anarquismo, Barrett encuentra su lugar de denuncia en la prensa. El peso de los acontecimientos ocurridos en los años próximos al Centenario de Mayo llevará a Barrett, decididamente internacionalista, a escribir numerosos artículos sobre la represión policial, la cuestión social, las leyes anti-inmigratorias y la fuerza del anarquismo en Buenos Aires. Sin duda serán los festejos patrios con su posterior represión los tópicos por excelencia de sus crónicas y de El terror argentino, un folleto de denuncia que escribe poco antes de morir. Su obra es una de las producciones literarias más significativas del repertorio anarquista de principios del siglo XX, y rescatarla nos permite alumbrar una época decisiva para nuestra historia, recuperando aquellas estrategias discursivas que buscaron consolidar una mirada crítica sobre las posiciones oficialmente instituidas. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Rafael Barrett is born in 1876 in Torrelavega, Spain. With 27 years old he arrives at Buenos Aires, where he develops an ephemeral but fecund journalistic activity and makes contact with the crude Latin American reality. But destiny take him to Paraguay, the country with which he falls in love. Identified with anarchism, Barrett finds his place of denunciation in the press. The weight of the events happened in the years next to the Centenary of May will take Barrett, decidedly internacionalist, to write numerous articles about police repression, the social issue, the anti-inmigratory laws and the force of the anarchism in Buenos Aires. But without doubt the patriotic celebrations and their later repression will be the topics par excellence of his chronicles and The Argentine Terror, a denunciation pamphlet that he writes shortly before dying. His work is one of the most significant literary productions of the anarchist repertoire from the beginning of the XX century. To rescue this allows us to illuminate a decisive time of our history, recovering those speech strategies that looked for to consolidate a critical glance about the officially instituted positions. | en_US |
