La conquista y colonización de América significó, entre muchas otras
cosas, complejos procesos de desestructuración y reestructuración de
identidades. En este trabajo presento el análisis de un discurso de
frontera: la Relación de antiguedades deste Reyno del Piru atribuida a
Joan de Santa Cruz Pachacuti Yamqui Salcamaygua – descendiente de
un linaje de curacas al servicio de los soberanos del Cuzco- ya que
representa una muestra de las reacciones generadas ante los cambios
y, asimismo, presenta algunas de las estrategias que desarrollaron los
sujetos para posicionarse, al menos discursivamente, dentro de la
nueva trama, cruzando y, a la vez, reforzando las fronteras con el otro.
The conquest and colonization of America implied, among many other things, very complex processes of identity change. In this article, I present the analysis of a frontier discourse: the Relación de antiguedades deste Reyno del Piru attributed to Joan de Santa Cruz Pachacuti Yamqui Salcamaygua – descendant of curacas who were subjects of the authorities of Cuzco- for it represents a sample of the reactions to the changes and it also shows several strategies developed by these subjects in order to obtain a favourable position in the new social fabric (at least within their discourses) crossing and, concurrently, strenghening the frontiers with “the other”.
